Sherri Murphy Celebrity Matchmaker at Elite Connections International Celebrates Her 28th Year in Business - Exclusive interview by influential People Magazine

Sherri Murphy elite matchmaker, established Elite Connections International over 28 years ago and now it’s grown into one of the world’s top dating agencies. She discusses how she got started in the business of helping people find love.


When asked how Elite Connections has eliminated the element of surprise in dating. Sherri answered, “Online dating is a challenging experience. You are meeting someone you don't know at all. We personally meet each person we bring in, verify their identification, and run background checks. You will always see recent pictures and details about the person we want to introduce you to. Although you can always say no, it's best to meet someone who could be a little different than the people you normally go out with.” The Elite Connections staff reviews every person they sign up. The matchmakers at this elite dating service are there to make sure they are matching quality people. The Dirty Johns and Bettys can meet people online for $100 and there is no way to qualify them. They certainly are not going to sign up with a company like ours, where they’ll get discovered.

I was a single mother of two and selling real estate. My friends were dating singles from the magazine personal ads. I was sure the personals were full of serial rapists and honestly thought the the same thing about online dating when it first came out. I joined an elite matchmaker and met my future husband Bill. I had matched people successfully many times before and loved the idea of being a matchmaker. I thought what a great way to meet good solid men. And what a wonderful business to be in. I started my own matchmaking agency right after meeting Bill. I’ve been working hard at building the business ever since. We’ve gone from one location in Beverly Hills, to 6 Southern CA locations, as well as offices, clients, elite matchmakers and scouts in many other cities. My daughter Tammi Pickle has worked with me since she was 15 and now helps run the company.

When Sherri Murphy who is known for matching not only Hollywood's A-listers but also the bachelor and bachelorette who live next door was asked, what characteristics define a perfect match, she replied “Sometimes finding the right person to bring home to meet your family is as easy as finding two gorgeous Jewish singles with fantastic families. Sometimes it's a celebrity who's fed up with dating other celebrities and helping them meet someone that is a lovely, put together person who has no idea what goes on in Hollywood.

Introducing them to someone who can provide them a private and regular existence apart from their line of work, works out well for some people. People frequently have common traits in common that draw them to one another. They both have a same enthusiasm for theater, music, or sports. They could both be avid travelers. Being with someone who does everything you do is not as enjoyable, although it is wonderful if you have a few common interests. You can always introduce each other to your favorite activities. It’s more interesting to be with someone who knows and does things you’re not familiar with.

It’s the 28th anniversary for Elite Connections. Sherri Murphy discusses their success and how they got to where they are. She feels working with her daughter Tammi Pickle is priceless and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

The elite matchmakers biggest satisfaction is having couples she’s introduced fall in love. She’s attended marriages for 28 years and loves it when their couples get married.
