Inspiring Lives Magazine Discusses Los Angeles Matchmakers Making A Difference

Sherri Murphy and Tammi Pickle, LA matchmakers, and owners of Elite Connections International, had founded Party With A Purpose 20 years ago. Sherri and Tammi share a deep desire to help children and teens who are facing the severity of poverty and homelessness. They believe that serving younger generations in their local communities throughout Los Angeles County is of the utmost importance. The money that is raised at their galas help needy children at the holidays. It’s used to buy clothing, does, toiletries and fun gifts.

The fundraiser is held annually until the pandemic hit. The LA matchmakers have been able to host around three-hundred people who gathered to raise thousands of dollars during each event. The LA matchmakers were in partnership with Safe Place for Youth for seven years.

CEO of Elite Connections International, Sherri Murphy, feels strongly about giving back and providing as much assistance as possible to those who are facing the hardships of a dicult youth and childhood, as she herself fled an abusive home-life when she was a young child.

When Sherri Murphy and Tammi Pickle both felt helping needy children was the perfect thing to do at the holidays. They wanted to step in and make a societal change that benefitted such an important part of the local community— its youth. They did events for children many years at MacLarens Childrens Center, and Florence Crittenton. Both were closed due to state budget cuts. Sherri is quoted, “Closing a child’s facility that’s been open since the 50’s and helped children with no where else to go, is one of the worst things imaginable. I’m truly ashamed of our state for doing that.”

The entire Elite Connections team, and both Sherri and Tammi plan to host yet another event in Los Angeles year, for a group of disadvantaged children. These LA Matchmakers donate their time and effort to host a unique and uplifting event in order to make a long-term impact on LA’s youth. Sponsors they have included in the past are Orly, Youngblood, Earthly Body, and of course their own Elite Connections International.
