Mother Daughter LA matchmakers Sherri Murphy and Tammi Pickle, hosted their 20th gala at Angeleno Hotel on November 23rd, 2019. All the proceeds from the gala and gifts brought by guests are used to give less fortunate children in Los Angeles a memorable Christmastime – gifts such as shoes, clothes, high-end skateboards, sleeping bags, cell phones and gifts cards are given to children between the ages of one and 18. Also, December 19th was their 20th children’s holiday party and 8th year at Safe Place for Youth (SPY) to run the children’s event.

The gala at Angeleno Hotel on November 23rd was spectacular, where more than 200 elegant guests showed up, with live music and fabulous food and drinks. What’s more, the Los Angeles matchmakers gave the guests their famous VIP gift bags donated by the sponsors (Elite Connections International, Regenix, Orly, Earthly Body, Motorola, and Youngblood Cosmetics). At the children’s Christmas event on December 19th, 2019, more than 200 children showed up to pick out their very own Christmas gifts; an opportunity they have never had.

“We’ve been doing this for 20 years; we do this from our heart,” says head LA matchmaker Tammi Pickle, “Many children have told me that it is the first time they received a gift and the first time they have had a Christmas party.”

Some professional women complain that guys are too visual; they only pay attention to how pretty you are and not how smart you are. This is a leading myth.

1. Of course, it is easier to attract men if you are a pretty woman. 

Pretty women have an unfair advantage over smarter, more intellectual women and attract guys naturally. 

There is one question you should keep in mind: What kind of men do pretty women attract?

It is true that all men like attractive women. This doesn’t mean that all men marry simply because of looks. They also care about how smart and loving you are.

Los Angeles matchmaker, Sherri Murphy, shares that elite men have told her that they want to marry intelligent women. Of course, these men want someone fit and attractive but intelligence does matter to them. 

Men can’t say no to a beautiful woman, this is known. It is definitely a plus being an attractive woman when it comes to dating.

2. There is a difference between objective beauty and perceived beauty. 

According to scientific research, objective beauty is all about symmetry. Unfortunately, not all of us are willing to get plastic surgery to make us look more symmetrical. This doesn’t mean that we can't increase our perceived beauty with some helpful tips. 

No one looks good in bad lighting especially when you are on a first date. You should always make sure the source of the light is behind you, not in front of your face. Typically, yellow light is better than white light because it makes everything look softer and smoother. Be careful of the lighting when picking your seat on a date.

If you are unsure about your style of clothing you can always hire a personal fashion stylist. You just have to hire the stylist once and keep the information from that session for a lifetime. Los Angeles matchmaker, Tammi Pickle, recommends this and says it is a good investment in yourself.

Your beauty is determined by your DNA before you turn 30 years old but after you turn 30 years of age, your beauty is determined by yourself! 

Men can see when you are wearing a lot of make-up and typically don’t like their women covered up. Wearing heavy make-up does not improve your perceived beauty. You should always go for the “natural look” wearing nude colors in moderation. It is advised to stay away from red lipstick on a first date because it can seem intimidating. Try wearing pink lipstick; after all, men love kissing pink lips. 

3. Throughout time, smart women become more beautiful.

I will tell you the story of Liz. When Liz was a young child, she did not have any confidence because she had no nice clothes to wear. Her father was an alcoholic and she came from a poor family. She didn’t enjoy life as a kid. 

Once Liz started to grow up, she decided she wanted to be a medical doctor and go to a university.  She worked hard and earned her degree. 

After Liz graduated college, she found her first job in a hospital. She finally had the money to buy herself some nice clothes and changed out her whole wardrobe. 

After a couple years, Liz found that she had lost weight, dressed better, visited a facial spa and did her make-up on a daily basis. Liz was working hard at working on herself. 

Most importantly, Liz is an avid reader. This small hobby makes her look so bright and radiant.

This could be the story of an ugly duckling transforming into a beautiful swan. Typically, people would say an 18-year-old girl looks better than a 38-year-old woman just because youth is a powerful thing. But in this case, 38-year-old Liz looks way better than 18-year-old Liz because intelligence and wisdom are more meaningful!

4. Smart women have better dating skills.

Since pretty women don’t have to try very hard to attract men, they start lacking in their dating skills. 

Smart women try hard to improve their perceived beauty and tend to have better dating skills because they practice them a lot more and use their brains to draw a man in. 

Better yet, smart women use their brains to keep their man interested.

Los Angeles matchmaker, Tammi Pickle, remembers many years ago, a senior lady said to her, “Wear your best clothes now. Enjoy your beauty and youth now because this kind of things won’t last for a long time.” 

If you think you are young, soon you will be old and if you think you are old, soon you will be older.

Beauty is only good for attracting men but not keeping them. Brains are what keep men around.
